This September, Florida Organic Growers will celebrate 30 years, while also hosing its first-ever Food and Farming Summit in Gainesville. We’re showing up in full force. We’ll serve coffee throughout the Sept. 17-19 event, but we will also man a booth and host roastery tours on Sunday.
Designed to engage farmers, foodies, home gardeners, environmental advocates and more, the summit will feature workshops, training courses, a trade show and tours of local farms (and, of course, a roastery). A non-profit that was established in 1987, Florida Organic Growers (FOG) serves as an organic farming education and outreach entity, as well as an organic certifier, the largest on the East Coast.
With a commitment to sustainability and organics, sponsoring this event was a no-brainer for us. We maintain an organic certification at our roastery, but we also source exclusively from small-scale organic farmers. Their efforts to maintain organic certification despite their lack of access to resources and increasing vulnerability to climate change remains a source of inspiration for us. We will keep them front-of-mind was we see old and new friends this September.
Join us on-site or support FOG by purchasing one of the two new specialty blends we developed for FOG this year. A portion of your purchase price of FOG Lifter Medium and FOG Lifter Dark will be donated to Florida Organic Growers. Happy Anniversary, FOG, and see you in September!
