These resilient organizations, typically with fewer than 500 members, include Maya Vinic in Mexico (founded by Tzotzil Mayan farmers following a 1997 massacre), Fondo Paez in Colombia (working to preserve indigenous traditions amid conflict), and Las Diosas in Nicaragua (a women's cooperative advancing gender equality). Despite obstacles like climate change, social unrest, and agricultural diseases, these co-ops provide both economic opportunities and social support for their communities.
